Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Work closely with the Board and Executive Director (if applicable) to define and champion the organization’s long-term vision, strategic goals, and annual priorities focused on growth and community impact in Colorado.
- Board Governance: Preside over all Board meetings, ensuring they are productive, focused on strategic matters, and adhere to bylaws. Serve as the official spokesperson for the Board.
- Fiduciary Oversight: Ensure sound financial management, including budget approval, fundraising oversight, and resource development to guarantee the organization’s stability and sustainability.
- Fundraising & Networking: Act as a key ambassador and leader in fundraising efforts, actively leveraging personal and professional networks to secure partnerships, major gifts, and broad community support.
- Community Advocacy: Represent the organization to the public, partners, and stakeholders, advocating for the mission and building powerful alliances across the Colorado business and philanthropic communities.
Qualifications & Expertise
- Required: Proven success in a senior leadership, executive, or governance role (e.g., CEO, Director, Senior Manager, or equivalent nonprofit board experience).
- Essential Skills: Exceptional abilities in strategic planning, complex problem-solving, financial literacy, and cultivating high-level relationships.
- Passion for Mission: A deep, demonstrated commitment to enhancing community quality of life and fostering growth across Colorado.
- Connection: An established and influential professional network within the Colorado business, civic, or philanthropic sectors.
General Board Member

Key Responsibilities
- Active Participation: Attend and actively participate in all Board meetings and committee assignments.
Strategic Input: Contribute specialized expertise (e.g., marketing, legal, finance, HR) to guide strategic decisions and organizational planning. - Resource Development: Enthusiastically support fundraising initiatives by making a personal annual financial contribution, securing corporate sponsorships, and introducing new potential donors/partners.
- Mission Advocacy: Serve as a committed ambassador for the CAWS mission within the community. Support board decisions even when they voted against them.
Qualifications & Expertise
- Required: Demonstrated professional expertise in a relevant business or nonprofit function (e.g., finance, law, marketing, HR, technology).
- Connection: Ability to actively utilize professional and personal networks to benefit the organization.
- Note: Direct equestrian experience is not required. We value business leadership, community impact, and professional excellence.
